Chopbiscuit on the road - Chicago dining review II Electric Boogaloo

Well, I've finally made it. The infamous Portillo's in Chicago. We ended up at one of the suburban locations in Elmhurst during lunch and we got to see the famous "machine-like" operation up close and personal. I ended up ordering a Italian beef and char-grilled sausage combo with hot peppers, aka (sliced jalapenos) with a malted chocolate shake. I was obviously partaking in a form of ab debauchery - meaning supporting my current, ever expanding waistline.

The place was mobbed, the food was fantastic and the vibe was stupefying. Yes, I said stupefying and I'm not sure if it's an actual word. This is a great Chicago concept with a loyal following that understands it's customer base.

A chopbiscuit favorite - booyah!

Started in 1963 by Dick Portillo in a small trailer and soon will be operating in 45 locations. His dedication was serving "the best food" and "the best service" available will make it worth your visit. Requests for his "type" of food and "service" are received daily at the corporate office from many of the 50 states (including Alaska) and many foreign countries. Calls from Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore, China, Europe, and Korea are just a few. Customers in the Chicago land area also call frequently requesting a store just "a little closer to our house."

It's truly food culture when you visit Chicago and it's recommended to any foodie that visits Chi-town.
